Timperley Villa U16 Tornados vs Hale Utd U16 Deportivo

The Tornadoes have struggled in recent years to put teams out with sometimes as few as five or six players turning up. Many teams would have folded but Paul whose son Joe plays in the team was determined to keep them going. With out Paul's determination and motivational skills the team would have folded a long time ago. Just after Xmas I took over from Paul and quickly asked Roger to help me. With the basis of a great bunch of kids and a very supportive set of parents left by Paul we moved forwards but sadly lockdown came which brought the early closure of the season with the team sitting firmly bottom on one point and if memory serves no wins in the previous year either. Sadly we  lost five or six players over lockdown and managed to recruit a few new lads. As soon as we were allowed we resumed training and due to isolation and lockdown had not had more than 8 or 9 boys down at any time leading up to the start of the season. Yesterday we managed to get 12 players for a game against Hale Utd Deportivo. The boys worked hard, some could hardly stand at the end but there determination was incredible. Faced by a very physical opposition Timperley Villa fought hard, tactics and effort paying off and the boys went 3 up in the first half. The boys with backs to the wall for much of the second half battled hard, determined to win, we missed a few good chances to extend the lead but inevitably Hale came back to bring the game to 3-2. A nail biting last ten saw chances at both ends but Timperley held out and gained there first win since ???

Paul, the boys and the parents deserve this. They've stuck it out through the bad times, through miserable cold, windy and rainy winters loosing by large margins many weeks...

They deserve this and more success for keeping going for so long. Roger and I are lucky to have 'adopted' such a great bunch of boys and parents.

Timperley Villa U10 Rapids vs Urmston town juniors U10

Timperley Villa U10 Rapids played away at Urmston Town for their first game of the season today. The boys put in a fantastic effort, coming away with the win. It was a joy to watch the lads enjoying their football and actually communicating with each other throughout the game! Huge credit to Urmston Town as well, great effort from them considering it was only their second ever game as a team.

Timperley Villa U14 Hawks vs Ashton on Mersey FC U14 Spartans

The Hawks first match of any description saw them fielding a bare 11 away (including one U13). A tough but fair match which saw the boys put on a great display with three or four players playing out of position. The effort was 100% and although the result wasn’t in their favour they left nothing out in the pitch against an Ashton sure who played a division above them last season.

Timperley Villa U18 Pumas vs Boothstown U18 Vipers

The 20/21 season kicked off with a trip to Boothstown for the U18 Pumas. The match started off brightly for the Pumas with Ben S converting a cross from Tom J to put them a goal up inside the first 15 minutes. Unfortunately a defensive error allowed Boothstown back into the match and then a mistimed tackle inside the 18-yard box gave Boothstown the lead at halftime with a penalty. The second half began in combative style with both teams getting plenty of chances, unfortunately for the Pumas it was Boothstown who managed to convert one putting them 3-1 up. The Pumas’ lack of fitness from the five month lay-off began to tell with Boothstown going on to score a further three goals in the final ten minutes to give the final score 6-1 which didn’t reflect the competitiveness of the match.

Timperley Villa U10 Jets vs Flixton Juniors U10 Warriors

The Jets played against Flixton Juniors Warriors to kick off our season on Saturday. The teams were really well matched and it was a tight game throughout. We saw some fantastic saves from both Will and Flynn in goal over both halves, as well as some great defending, good tackles and exciting attacking moves on display too. This included a great volley from Charlie which rattled the post after a cross in from Toby from the right. The match saw us welcome a new player to our team, Joseph, who made a great contribution, along with a goal from Jack, an own goal from Flixton, with assists coming from both Bobby and Charlie. Well done boys

Timperley Villa U9 Wolves vs Ashton on Mersey Fc U9 Comets

On Saturday the U9 Wolves played their very first game as a team and their first game of the season. The wolves dominated their half of the pitch with the comets putting up a good defence. Both teams made some great goal attempts making for a tense game for the players and spectators. The wolves made a fantastic start to the season with Harvey winning Man of the Match for his great performance.
