Timperley Villa Match updates 2nd & 3rd November

Timperley Villa Wizards U11 vs Urmston Meds

A great win for the u11 Wizards in a good competitive match against Urmston Meds

A day for Rowan - captain for the day, a hat trick and player of the match

The whole team played really well

Timperley Villa U16 Hornets vs Benchill Celtic JFC U16

A well-deserved (and even flattering for Benchill) 7-0 win, with at least the same number of chances created on top of that too. A great result built from the defensive unit, whoever played in defence.

Really pleased with the shape of the team, the discipline, the effort for 80 minutes, the chances created, a clean sheet, some cracking goals, team spirit, attitude towards some provocation, respect to ref etc. etc.

Hard to pick out Player of the Week, but Dylan just pipped it with his hat-trick and perseverance in front of goal, but Alex was close with his performance, getting the first goal and a calm penalty! Just a great team performance.

Goals from Dylan (3), Alex (2), Kieran and Nick. With 2 good halves in goal from Jake and Ed.

As you can tell, I’m thrilled and very proud of them.

Timperley Villa U17 Pumas Vs Broadheath Central FC U18 Ospreys

The U17 Pumas were hosting local rivals Broadheath U18 Ospreys in the first league match of the season following the initial development matches to identify the league structures.

An eventful but goalless first half saw both sides have a number of half chances but the only record the referee made was a yellow card for a Broadheath player.

The second half started off with a fortuitous goal from Tom J, following a shot saved by the keeper which ricochet against Tom and into the back of the Broadheath net, this brought Tom’s goal tally to three in only his second match for the Pumas. Shortly afterwards the Pumas failed to deal with a ball bouncing around their 18-year box with Broadheath levelling the score.

With the game looking like ending in a 1-1 draw with less than 10-minutes to go a monster kick from the Pumas’ keeper Tom was controlled by Alex who muscled his way passed the central defenders to calmly slot the ball into the net giving the Pumas a 2-1 lead.

Unfortunately, the Pumas couldn’t hang onto the lead and a curling shot managed to evade Tom in the Villa nets bringing Broadheath level once again. The Pumas still managed a further couple of chances in the dying minutes, but the shots were both put wide.

A cracking game of quality football ended 2-2.

Timperley Villa U10 Wasps vs Unicorn Athletic JFC U10 Eagles

For the first fifteen minutes the Wasps couldn't get into the game against a good Eagles team. As the first half progressed the Wasps settled down and evened up the play.

The second half saw the Wasps absorbing a lot of pressure, with Jeron making some fine saves to keep the Wasps in the game.

In the closing minutes Oscar made a great attempt that hit the post, a goal mouth scrambled  ensued, the Eagle goalkeeper eventually gathered up the loose ball.

Timperley Villa U9 Rapids vs AFC Urmston Meadowside U9 Panthers

The U9 Rapids finally turned the tide of defeats with a great performance away against AFC Meadowside Panthers.

The Rapids took the lead but Meds team battled hard to keep themselves in the game, leaving the result in doubt until the final few minutes.

The Rapids goal scorers were Max (3) and Ethan (2), with a big shout out to George who had an amazing game in nets (that GK training is certainly paying off!).

Congratulations to all the players for working so hard and a mention also for the very sporting Meds team.

Timperley Villa U14 Lions vs Walley Range AFC Junior U14

U14 Lions were at home to Whalley Range this Sunday. They put a fantastic performance in the first half, playing some lovely football going into the half time break 4-1 up. Second half was a different story, the Lions lost their way slightly with Whalley Range pulling 2 goals back to make it 4-3 and a nervy final few minutes, until Maddy scored a lovely goal from the edge of box right into the top corner making it 5-3 to the Lions.

Timperley Villa U9 Jets vs Broadheath Central FC U9 Bocas

Timperley Villa u9 jets played at home  this weekend against Broadheath Central Bocas. The boys played brilliantly, scoring plenty of goals including some long range shots - one from around the half way line! The passing and communication amongst the boys was also a real positive to see, while they all worked really hard to win the ball back and to defend well. A Great team performance.
