Timperley Villa Match updates 25th & 26th January 2020

Broadheath Central FC U18 Ospreys v Timperley Villa U17 Pumas

Injuries and illness decimated the Pumas for their local derby against Broadheath, at one point it was looking like we wouldn’t be able to field eleven players however several lads hauled themselves from their sickbeds to boost the number to 12. Special mention goes to Luke who, after a case of food poisoning kept him off school dragged himself to the match to deputise in goal for the absent Tom W.

The match started brightly on a wet afternoon, with Alex putting the Pumas a goal up inside the first few minutes. Luke very soon afterwards doubted his decision to go in goal by letting a soft shot through his legs for the Ospreys to equalise. The Broadheath keeper kindly returned the favour by gifting the Pumas a goal. In a hectic first half Ben bagged himself a hattrick and Josh scored a screamer of a freekick from 30 yards out to leave the halftime score at 5-2 with the Pumas in control. We thought we might have more illness issues for the second half when the opposition were overheard saying “that Timperley centre back is sick”, however it wasn’t a comment on his health, rather a comment on Archie’s abilities.

At the start of the second half Archie spotted the Broadheath keeper off his line and slotted the ball in from 45 yards out to give the Pumas a comfortable lead. Both teams started to suffer as the second half progressed, with Archie having to leave early to go to work and James M suffering cramp the Pumas saw themselves reduced to 10 men giving Broadheath the chance to pull a couple of goals back before Alex restored the three goal margin with the final score being a 7-4 victory for the Pumas to keep their unbeaten season going and three points clear in the league with two games in hand on the second placed team.

Timperley Villa U9 Jets Vs Sale Communities U9 Hawks

The U9 Jets played at St Hugh's this weekend against Sale Communities Hawks. After playing against a strong Hawks team back in November, it was a really good test to see how far the team has developed over recent months. In an end to end game, with goals for both teams, the boys did well to have plenty of possession, create a number of good chances and to score three goals. There were also some brave saves and defensive displays on show too. A great team effort!

Timperley Villa U9 Giants vs Wilmslow FC U9 Jaguars

Timperley villa Giants u9 played Wilmslow Jaguars at St Hughes had a very competitive game with lots of positive football. Man of the match Harry, and very good game for new player Tyler

Timperley Villa U16 Hornets Vs Benchill Celtic JFC U16

So many spurned chances, missed chances, straight at keeper, cleared off line in todays match which in hindsight is a real positive for them to create so many chances in one game, just gutted they couldn’t take any! It was a physical game, but 2 blatant penalties denied and obvious foul for their 3rd.

Congrats to Alex for Player of the Week – who covered lots of ground with boundless energy, and was constantly trying to push us forward and look for forward passes and attacking shots / options.
