Timperley Villa match reports 23rd & 24th November 2019

Timperley Villa U17 Pumas vs West Didsbury U17

In the match this weekend the Timperley Villa U17 Pumas travelled to West Didsbury U17. A rapid rejigging of the team was required as, in addition to the two players away, there were three players absent due to illness and to cap it all Selim was injured in the warm-up meaning the Pumas started with a bare 11 players which resulted in Alex having to switch from his normal striker role to central defence!

A keen competitive match was eagerly anticipated with these teams winning one match each in their two meetings last season. The match started competitively on a heavy pitch with West Didsbury dominating the play for the first 20 minutes. However once Dan put Ben S through to open the scoring for the Pumas, the lads settled into their usual passing game and Ben S doubled the Pumas’ lead shortly after to allow them to relax. A blistering 30 yard free-kick from out on the wing from Josh put the Pumas three up and Josh finished the first half scoring with another giving the half time score as 4-0.

The Pumas allowed the tempo of the game to slip in the second half which permitted West Didsbury back into the game. Shortly after this goalkeeper, Tom W, had to be substituted due to taking a knock to the head with Ben S pulling on the gloves. A brace of goals from Tom J and a final goal from Prithvi, his first in three seasons, saw the Pumas comfortably win the fixture 7-1

Timperley Villa FC U9 Jets vs Egerton Football Club U9 Panthers

The Jets played away at Egerton on Saturday and put in a fantastic performance on their 3G pitch. The boys scored four goals, showing some great passing and movement in the build ups, alongside some impressive defensive displays from some of the boys who were playing in that position for the first time. Well done Jets.

Timperley Villa Minotaurs U12 v Egerton Football Club U12 Tatton.

On a very sodden pitch the teams served up a thriller that ebbed and flowed for the full 60 minutes.

Egerton took the lead with a fine shot before the Minotaurs came roaring back with goals by Lucas and a stunning solo effort from Fin.

Poor defending gifted Egerton an equaliser before Eds half volley and Jacks tap in meant the Minotaurs went in at the break deservedly 4-2 in front.

Mid way through the 2nd half Lucas came agonisingly close to extending the lead when his shot crashed against the bar.

Within a minute of that happening Egerton broke downfield and pulled a goal back to make it 4-3.

With minutes to go Egerton broke out of defence and in a goalmouth scramble claimed the ball had crossed the line. The ref hesitated, then gave the goal.

So, heartbreak for the Minotaurs as a disputed goal gives Egerton a late draw and makes qualification to the semi final unlikely.

Jack was the Minotaurs man of the match as this was his best game to date for his new club.

A great game to watch and both teams should be proud of the effort they put in. Well done boys.

Timperley Villa FC U11 Wizards vs Sale United U11 Hawks

A fourth win on the trot for the U11 Wizards against a good Sale United team at Beech on Saturday

All the boys contributed to a really good display, with some excellent team goals

Timperley Villa U15 Lightning   v   Juno United U15 Lions

So, in spite of the rain, we actually managed to play yet another game on a soggy, heavy pitch - but at least we're playing !

The rallying call to the boys was to start on the front foot, after a few games of looking fairly lethargic in the opening exchanges , and they responded in style !

Within the first minute, a sleepy Juno failed to pick up Matt D in the middle and he marched forward, took aim and pulled the trigger from outside the area and it hit the bullseye in the bottom left corner.

From that point onwards, the boys barely looked troubled even when Juno had their best spell of pressure and grabbed an equaliser, the Lightning responded by heading up the opposite end and Owen slotted one home to regain the lead.

This left us 2-1 up at half time and with the boys focused on improving in the second half, they fired off three goals in quick succession inside 10 second half minutes.

First Matt D with a great interchange with Henry opened up the Juno defense, then Ben G with silky footwork got the better of their right back and fired home and Henry completed the triple with a tap in coming back from Harry's shot.

With the game in the bag, the team was switched around and several players subbed to even up the contest, but that still left time for Henry and Harry to add further goals, before Juno grabbed a consolation from a

nicely crafted free-kick that cannoned back off the crossbar in to the path of the on-rushing attackers, much to the annoyance of the unalert Timperley players and managers !

A 7-2 scoreline that didn't flatter the lad's dominance and continues their maximum points run in the league and keeps them firmly at the top of the pile.

PL 5  W 5  (15 points)

Timperley Villa U18 Spartans vs FC Bluestar U17 Rockets

At Youth level the Spartans got their league campaign off to a flyer with a 5-3 home victory over FC Bluestar, the Spartans twice came from behind with a hat trick from Jack and one each from Gabe and Zac much to the pleasure of a record home crowd off over 60!!
