Timperley Villa Pumas U17 v Altrincham FC Juniors U18 Lions
The Pumas had a ‘friendly’ against local rivals Altrincham last Sunday on a cold and foggy day. There should have been an incentive to win the local derby as most of the Altrincham lads were in the same school as the Pumas, albeit a year above. However, the Pumas, missing a couple of players, took the friendly tag too literally and seemed to treat it as a training match.
In a game with very few chances the only goals came from penalties, with Altrincham’s coming from a clumsy challenge in the first half and Selim earning and converting one for the Pumas in the second half. Thus, the game finished 1-1, at least keeping the Puma’s unbeaten run going.
Timperley Villa U9 Jets Vs Longford Park Juniors U9 Yellows
The U9 Jets were playing away this weekend against Longford Park Yellows. On a very muddy pitch both sides did really well to get their passes going and to score plenty of goals. We had four players getting on the scoresheet for our six goals, some great assists, along with some solid defending and goalkeeping performances against a strong team. Well done Jets.
Mobberley Junior Football club MFC U12's vs Timperley Villa Minotaurs U12's
A fast start saw us score 2 excellent goals with Jayden (on the scoresheet) & Ed running the midfield.
As the first half came to a close Mobberley scored on the break after the lads stopped for what they thought was a throw in.
The oldest cliche in the book......."play to the whistle"!
Mobberley changed things around at half time and they started the 2nd half very quickly.
Out of nowhere it was suddenly 10 minutes to go and we were trailing 4-2.
As in recent weeks the boys showed great character as Ollie, Charlie and Lucas all played really well and 2 quick goals from Lucas saw us get it back to 4-4.
In the final minute Charlie saw his bullet header punched away by Mobberleys centre half but agonisingly the ref didn't see it......don't mention the VAR!!
The game finished 4-4 and must have been a great watch for the parents of both clubs.
Finally, kudos to the Mobberley manager who very quickly put a stop to some comments made from his team to ours.
There were numerous candidates for man of the match but we decided on Charlie because of his commitment and the black eye he got from Jack!!!
Well done Charlie but also very well done to Ollie and Lucas (another hat trick).
Timperley Villa U16 Hornets vs St Johns (Chorlton) U16 Thunder
Gutted with the result from Sunday. They worked so hard to get back to 1-1 with just 10 to go so to lose 3-1 was tough. Even sided match tbh. Given they’re undefeated and top of the league, shows how far they’ve grown. Just missing that final quality around goal.
Few contenders for Player of the Week, but Matthew deserving of it this week for his performance and commitment standing steadfast central defence. Special mentions for Nick for his stint in goal and his good goal. And Tom for time in goal too 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
