League Cup Update:
Commiserations to the U11s who went down 1-2 in their Cup Final against Benchill.
The game saw some great football from both teams but the Timperley side just
could not find the equaliser that was needed to take the game to extra time.
***U16s suffer penalty agony***
The U16s suffered the agony of a 4-3 penalty shoot-out defeat in their Cup Final
against Sale Utd. The Timperley side lead 1-0 after the first half, but as
injuries took their toll Sale fought there way back into the game and claimed an
equaliser mid-way through the second half. A tight period of extra time saw no
further goals and so it was left to the lottery of penalties to inflict a cruel
defeat on the U16s.
The U14 Bees were triumphant in their Cup Final against Alderley Edge. A tight
first half saw the Bees go in with a slender 1-0 lead but goals early in the
second half allowed them to take control and in the end they ran out deserved
6-0 victors. Many congratulations to all the players and to the
management/coaching team.
Congratulations to the U14 Bees who have made it through to the Div 4 League Cup
Final, by virtue of a 7-4 extra-time semi-final victory over Stretford Vics. A
tightly fought match saw a full time score of 4-4, with the Bees finally
breaking loose in the second period of extra time to join the U11s as Cup
Finalists.
Congratulations to the U11s who have made it through to the Div 3 League Cup
Final, by virtue of a 3-0 semi-final victory over Lymm Rovers Eagles.
Commiserations to U17 Alma who lost out in their semi, going down 2-4 in a close
and strongly contested game against league leaders Swinton Boys.
Commmiserations to U10 Vikings and U10 Wasps who lost their semi-finals against
Urmston Town & Lymm Rovers respectively. The Wasps came agonisingly close to
going through, eventually loosing out 9-8 on penalties to the cruelty of a
sudden death shoot out, after the game finished 1-1 after full & extra time and
the first 5 penalties were drawn at 4-4.
The U11s will play Benchill Celtic in the U11 Div 3 final, to be played at
Trafford FC on Sunday 11 May.
