TO TIMPERLEY VILLA YFC MEMBERS
A letter to the parents...
I feel that the Club needs to confirm the current
situation regarding the long running “suspension" issue with Timperley &
District League (T&DL). Some of you will have seen various movements in the FA
Full Time website and are understandably confused.
We had a hearing with the Cheshire County FA (CCFA) in which they overruled T&DL
sanction of our mini soccer teams who "played games whilst suspended". CCFA
recognised there were exceptional circumstances behind the initial fine and our
failure to pay it (they found it was reasonable that we did not even know we had
been fined) and that the points deducted by T&DL should be reinstated. We are
seeking clarification on whether the games played should be rearranged and
expect such clarification within the next few days.
CCFA also made it clear that T&DL should follow its own procedure in regards to
sanctioning our older age group teams who obeyed the suspension and didn’t play
their games on the Sunday. Currently the T&DL have not sanctioned us and so the
points deductions and games voided notices against these teams are incorrect. We
fully expect T&DL to charge us with "failure to fulfill fixtures" and void the
games and penalise us 3 points. At that point we will appeal the decision to
CCFA and ask them to extend the logic they applied to the teams who played on
the Saturday to the Sunday situation. That is, CCFA are likely to find against
T&DL and require that no points are deducted and the games are replayed. We have
assurances from CCFA that they will schedule a hearing date at the earliest
possible date to allow the season to be completed on time (6th May is the
official end of season).
This situation particularly affects a number of teams:-
Our U16 Alma team finished joint top of their league with the sanctions applied.
T&DL made them play a "championship decider" last Sunday (i.e. before officially
sanctioning us!!). Unfortunately they lost that game and so their league will be
decided based on whether we are successful in the appeal
Our U10 team has the chance to finish in a promotion spot now the points have
not been deducted. Hopefully the possibility of being forced to replay a game
they already won will not affect this
One of our U13 teams has a chance of a top 3 finish if T&DL allow the league to
be contested properly
Please bear with us while we progress this (tortuous process). I promise to send
