About Us
Developing for Fun
How we develop player talent
At Timperley Villa we
are lucky to have the service of some excellent, professional coaches
who have been trained and work in a number of the North West’s leading
professional academies. The knowledge and experience of working with
players at all levels of ability provides us with a great opportunity.
As the example of Manchester United confirms, youth development is a
long term activity that must be undertaken with a systematic and
coordinated approach. Pooling our experience over many years we have
used the FA’s coaching principles to bring together the most
comprehensive and effective player development program of any Club in
the area. Strict control on the numbers of players in each group
together with careful selection and development of coaches means we will
avoid the traps that other Clubs have suffered from. Our goal is not to
be an elite club, nor to be a massive club, it is to fill our playing
capacity with enthusiastic players who want to learn more about “the
beautiful game”.
Each player who joins the Club is assessed against the FA’s “four
corner” player model and is allocated to the most appropriate group for
the further development of that player. For the U8’s the emphasis is on
developing movement, confidence and the basic skills. From U8 to U10 our
children play low pressure competitive games in which we emphasise basic
technique whilst ensuring they have fun. U11 to U13 are very
transformational ages for the players and, with the Club, we try to help
them develop a love for football and an understanding of team play.
Player development can only be successful if we have excellent coach
development. Every one of our coaches has a minimum FA coach
qualification and, for those working at U12’s level has signed up to our
Club’s player development approach. Providing the funding and
administrative support to enable an excellent development program is the
other key aspect to our approach.
We welcome your enquiries so we can explain how we provide the best
player development capabilities in the area.
